Ex partner has withdrawn from mediation agreement

Has anyone experienced an ex partner pulling out of a mediation agreement?
We have been in mediation for 5 months and were both advised to take legal advice before the final agreement. Which I did. I felt I had compromised as much as possible but was very keen to get to an agreement so that we can both move on.
We finally got to an agreement in April.

Ive had an email this week to say that my ex has pulled out of the agreement and wants substantially more of the house equity. He said he didnt take legal advice before, but didn't give the reason why. Im absolutely gutted to say the least. I was really hoping we were nearing the end of this long divorce which has taken nearly 4 years so far.

Has anyone else experienced this and did the case get to court as a result?

Probably hard to comment without knowing the circumstances
