Waiting on advise from mortgage advisor, however whilst I wait does anyone know if a mortgage company is likely to take into consideration an informal agreement re child maintenance when considering income?

Yes they will, but youll need to demostrate consistent monthly/weekly payments recieved over a period of time via bank statements.

Informal CMS is often risky. I have seen so many divorced friends getting into problems with that. It all starts with "but we are a family", "of course I will always support my children", "we don't need any formal agreements".....
And starts well, maybe lasts for a bit. But then - the man meets a new woman; or something else changes - and in the absence of any formal binding agreements - it all slowly falls apart.
Is there a reason he doesn't want to formalise the agreement?
