What can I do to make him pay the full settlement?

Amicably divorced. Agreed he would transfer a certain figure within a month of the final order. He transferred me 95% of the amount and emailed me to say he’ll transfer the rest when he can.
Where do I stand? How much would it cost to claim this money trough the courts?
i don’t immediately need it but I’m worried it’ll be forgotten if i don’t keep at it

I would reply
”thank you for the money sent so far, the outstanding balance is £XXX and would be paid into a savings account with XXX% interest being accrued each month. As a result of your late payment, please add this figure to the balance for each month you fail to pay”

In reality Id think that, and think ‘what a dick’, but likely say nothing other than ‘I need a date that I can get the payment’.

What a wanker. Yes you can claim through the courts but as you point out, that will incur costs. Are we talking 100s, 1000s, 10000s? That would change how I approached it.

You said amicable, is there a way to ask him whats going on.

He raised the 95% through a mortgage, he was going to give me the rest from his savings but he had unexpected expenses. £10k is the outstanding amount

So you’ve had 190k but are owed 10

first thing is to simply ask him. You know him so is it likely he’s genuinely had a few cash flow issues? Is he likely to mess you around ?
ask him what he plans to do and when he intends to pay the rest.
once you’ve done that you can agree a timeline you’re happy with or you’d have to go enforcement .if it’s only a one or two month delay personally I’d give him the benefit of doubt- but you know him
