Hi, this is for my brother, he got married in Pakistan 2/3 yrs ago, called her to Uk, she lived with him for 2months and ran away and put fake allegations of domestic abuse for a stay in the uk, she has now obtained her stay & asked for a divorce about 4months ago, now my brother received a letter saying she has applied for share of money, I can’t seem to understand why is she getting her way? I mean someone who has only been here for 2 months is doing all this for money and stay in the uk. We have found out from inner sources that she has gone to Pakistan recently and got engaged to her relative aswell… Has anyone had a similar situation? My brother doesn’t have anything to his name, he works that’s it. He cannot even afford a solicitor at this rate

Well she can put a claim in but usually in the case short marriage, with no children, parties will be out back to how they were pre marriage - ie they both leave with what they brought into the marriage.

if there are no assets then there’s nothing to gain or lose. But he does need to obtain a final consent order that severs financial ties because if he doesn’t she can cone back tears later asking for a settlement

based on your post she stands to gain little
