Does this even exist?
Someone who isn’t out to make as much money as possible
My experience of family lawyers so far has been the opposite

Thanks - there’s been some really strange responses on here from people who are confusing the word ethical with the word cheap. I guess that’s just internet weirdness.

Some helpful responses too.

Thank you

You’re the one who confused the word ethical with the word cheap OP.

You asked for an ethical solicitor when what you really wanted was a cheap one who won’t charge you for the work they do & the time they spend on your case- like reading emails and replying to emails. But you’ll still expect them to be great, on your side and get the best possible settlement for you…

We’ll have to agree to disagree on what I meant by the word ethical as my clarification didn’t sink in

Clearly a misunderstanding that can’t be explained without great effort and there’s no point!

One of the ways to keep costs down is to be very clear about what you want, so you don’t use solicitors’ time unnecessarily. If you communicate with them like you have here, I think I can see the problem!

Architect3000 · 03/07/2025 10:07

No, I don’t communicate in the same way that I do here as this is a chat forum!

I’ve found it helps to look for lawyers who are upfront about fees, don’t push you into extra work, and explain things in plain English. I once had a good experience with a firm in another area of law, the oberheiden healthcare law firm, and it taught me that some lawyers really do put ethics first. In family law, I’d ask for a fixed-fee meeting to get a read on their attitude before signing anything.
