Games to take the sting from the divorce

Thanks to generosity, support and help from so many including this site, my husband is finally leaving next week and we are divorcing!

I am left behind with teenage kids in the family home - he is removing some furniture and tv etc (leaving another tv so it’s ok). I want to change the vibe of the room, it’s spacious and I want to being really joy back into our home by togetherness and play.

Any ideas for 1. Garden games - I’m thinking swing ball (has to be a game for two people and more or tournaments) and 2. Indoor - I have a table tennis game I can bring in but maybe a bit too large Thinking I’ve heard about a game in chinese culture which had a card table. I might be able to pick up second hand?

Any ideas for games that bring real joy and can be played in short bursts and / or longer and tournament style?

We already have lots of board games already - I’ve collected them over the years (not really been allowed to play though but now can hurrah) but any new game ideas also welcome.

I know this is not quite what you asked but guinea pigs or something else of that ilk would be a great distraction if that’s something you could take on.

Again sorry not quite what you're asking but if you are a family who enjoys board games could you join a local group in a pub or cafe? Mine have been so welcoming despite me being at least twice the average age. I joined a long time after divorce but have a family who aren't particularly keen on board games but I am! Its competitive!

I love the thought of guinea pigs but we have a mad dog so sadly no.

re the second idea, that’s very sweet thank you, we are not lonely and have many friends. I just want something for the home to change the vibe to one more of fun and game playing :)
