Were you the respondent in divorce?

Hi

If you were the respondent in divorce but you did not acknowledge divorce papers by filling in the acknowledgement of service but stbx got deemed service granted as had proof I received papers but I didn’t have time to acknowledge them and told stbx to move forward without me….

  1. Am I expected to accept conditional/final orders?

  2. What happens if I don’t?

  3. Will I be notified if stbx proceeds with next steps and what will I receive?

Sole application applied for by stbx!

Do you have any objections to a conditional order being granted?

You’ll be making it a long drawn out and expensive process if you don’t engage but it will still happen. Someone can’t be forced to remain married just because of inaction from the other party.

My STBX didn’t acknowledge on time (to be awkward) but was able to after the date, once I’d told him I would do it through the deemed service as I had text message proof. It would have cost me £60 or something though.

@Didntaskso it asks respondent after applicant applies if respondent objects? I thought no further action is needed by respondent once either Acknowledgement of service accepted or deemed service accepted and it goes ahead without anything further needed to be signed by respondent?

@trailblazer42 it is still going ahead and has not caused any delays ex stbx got deemed service accepted when we were still in the 20 week wait period so me not responding has not delayed anything. I pressume by stbx would have had to pay a fee for court to accepted d11 for deemed service else it would not have got accepted.

Everything will be updated for you to view on the online portal as it progresses.

I have not registered an account at all. I’m not in the UK. Stbx is in UK hence why they have jurisdiction. Will the UK courts email me every step of the way?
