I'm divorced as of today!

Rather unexpectedly I received an email this morning telling me that the final order has been granted and I am now legally divorced. I thought it would be a few more weeks. ExH and I first applied to divorce last May.

On the one hand I'm so happy that's it's finally been brought to a close; on the other, I feel a bit strange and discombobulated! My new life is now in sight but I have absolutely no idea what it will bring. Weird times.

It's a strange feeling isn't it when the email comes through. A mix of relief and grief and sadness and maybe excitement

Mine came through on a Sunday - just saw it ping up on my I watch whilst washing up . And just thought "oh so that it's then" it felt weirdly anti climatic

I made a cheeseboard, got my favourite bottle of wine in then watched a violent horror film just wanted to distract myself with something that didn't have an ounce of romance in it.

Congratulations. It is a weird feeling isn't it? I remember being surprised by it too. Sad. And weary. And a bit meh.

Thanks all. There’s no one in my life who can directly relate to how I’m feeling right now so it’s really comforting to read about how you all felt the same. Strangely meh, excited, sad, relieved, all at once! And anti climactic too. I’ve had a normal evening with a normal dinner and am now watching Below Deck Mediterranean with a pair of gorgeous cavorting yachties in a hot tub! 😂.

@JKM66 Can you do something about it? Once I'd decided our marriage would never get any better it was surprisingly easy, but then we both wanted the divorce which made things simpler. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. x

Flybbergybe I have been doing it for a year and half but the ex is delaying everything while living in the same house. We will have the final financial hearing in March and then i will hit that button. our case is so simple but he has gone all the way to final costing thousands on both sides. I will die from happiness when this is all over. I am joking. I will be having the live i deserve surrounded by my 2 wonderful children.

I found it to be a huge anticlimax.

I mean, oh, ok, that's it? Alright. What was it I was doing? Oh yes, cleaning out the fridge.

That is just appeared on my phone like that was weird.
