After a long long negotiation via solicitors, I've got my D81 and financial consent order, just waiting on my ex to sign. He's now saying we can dispense with solicitors and that his solicitor has said he can represent himself, via a Notice of Acting.
I'm unsure what happens next in the process, how long it takes and what further legal fees there will be. I guess the signed forms go to court, though we don't have to attend in person. But is that just a rubber-stamp exercise or would a judge be likely to ask questions or change the agreement? I know money then needs to change hands as agreed but after that, who files for the decree absolute, is that the solicitors and is it straightforward / quick?
