Relocating home and kids school

Hi everyone,
2 years ago, I got divorce.
I want to relocate somehere close by (30 minutes away) and change kids school. As I want my kids to go to grammar school. My ex does not want me to do that.
Solicitor told me that because in the degree absolute (court order) it mentioned that "kids leave with both parens" I have to go to court.
It seems quite expensive and time consuming.
I was wondering if any of you had similar experience? How much it did cost and how long it took?
Many thanks

Do the kids want this move?

What does the children want? Can't they go to a grammar school without changing their living arrangement? Be prepared that the children being quite old have a voice too at Court.

Is the grammar school a catchment area one? As not all are. If it isn't, then the obvious suggestion would be to put the oldest child forward for 11+ from where you live now and move if they get in. Since wanting them to go to grammar school and them getting an offer are not the same thing.

Thanks all. I need to move to arra as grammer schools do not except students outside the catchment area. As you need to proof your address with bills , ect.
