Have a Mesher type of order (court ordered) untill child reaches certain age however now in the position to move. The house will go 50/50 to my ex husband and myself, my question is going forward I want to put the house up for sale but surely I need a lawyer to handle the money making sure everything is divided out equally in my order it states all costs in relating to the house sale will come from the house so this including hiring a lawyer to deal with it? Would I have to pay upfront a lawyer and then it’s taken off the house money or is there such a thing as a lawyer who will do the work and then take the fees out the house funds when it sells? I’m just abit clueless about it and can’t get any information online regarding this x

I'm sort of going through the same thing in that I am having to do a transfer of equity and remortgage with additional borrowing - the solicitor appointed by the new mortgage lender deducts the costs of sale from the additional borrowing - or sale in your case - pay ex husband and then transfers me the remainder

You need a conveyance lawyer regard the house sale and as part of that the monies will be split and deposited as you both instruct into accounts you provide
