my friend who is on the process of separating and eventually divorcing his wife.
His wife is a hoarder and my friend has a mission ahead of him to empty the house of all the crap she’s collected.

He started doing this now is technically legal for him to do it.

Not if it's her stuff, or even marital property the divorce court will decide how things are split between them

teatoast8 · 06/11/2024 21:25

He can't chuck her stuff out. It's illegal

StormingNorman · 06/11/2024 21:26

Is she not taking any of it with her?

AutumnFroglets · 06/11/2024 21:27

No, he cannot throw her belongings out. He can't even throw out joint marital belongings without her permission. However he can throw out his own crap.

Snorlaxo · 06/11/2024 21:28

Are they selling the house or is she moving out and he’s keeping the house ?

If so. I think that he’s supposed to give her a reasonable deadline to remove her stuff first but IANAL and he should check.

SilverChampagne · 06/11/2024 21:31

Does he plan on shoving her out of the house, op?
They’re not even separated and he thinks he can start throwing her stuff in the bin?
This can’t be real.
