Solicitor costs - who pays?

In the process of getting divorced
We’ve always had a joint finances
Our salaries are still both getting paid into the joint account
We’ve had mediation - paid from joint account
Have reached an agreement & been advised to get independent financial and legal advice by mediator
STBXH says he’s not going to bother as doesn’t want to pay. He wants to use mediation company solicitor to draft consent order. I’m fine with that but I’d like to get some advice but he’s told me if I do we’ll have to renegotiate the deal to take into account the money I pay for a solicitor.
It got me thinking how do people work it out when finances are joint?
Just divvy it up at the end?
He pays the mediation solicitor costs?
I pay for my independent advice?

TIA

You both need to start getting your wages paid into personal accounts and then start paying for everything separately.

We've got separate accounts now. Only the mortgage is still going through the joint account.
We don't need to pay for mediation (ex is refusing to attend) because it's a free service through social services where we live.
We each pay our own solicitor. Court fees will be split.
