How far from your kids primary school would you consider?

At the moment we live a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes drive from my kids primary school, they are 5 and 8. Divorce is about to go through and I'm looking for a house to buy.

My budget is tight so there has to be compromise in what I go for. I won't consider moving them school as they are both happy and settled there. I'm just interested to hear how long of a drive from primary school would you consider?

How long would you drive for your primary school play dates?

Well it would depend on if I work etc but in principle I’d wa t to be no more t than about 15-20 min drive

for me it’s more important to be close to secondary school when they get more independence and want to walk and meet friends locally

Yeah that's my concern too. I don't want to move house in 3 years time for High school.

I would consider where the high school you are hoping for them to go to is and try and live somewhere within about a 15 minute walk of that. It's not such a big issue to be near your school friends in primary as they won't really be doing things without parents being around but in senior school independence is a big thing. We're about a half an hour walk from senior school and it's too far for my eldest to hang around regularly with their friends which is a massive shame.
