House valuation and mortgage capacity certificates

Hi

I've started divorce proceedings after discovering my husband affair and now trying to fill out form e
I have been quoted more than £900 for a house evaluation. Is this right? Do I need to pay for this and mortgage capacity certificate. Or can I just get a free one??

I'm broke already without even getting anywhere yet!

Can't you get a few estate agents round to value it for free? You don't have to take it any further.

That's what I presumed. I was a bit shocked when they said they would send a quote!

I just used estate agents (if you are the person hoping to buy the other out make sure you ask for realistic sale value the house would definitely sell for in say 6 weeks not an aspirational value). For mortgage I used a broker who sent a computer printout and didn’t charge presumably as hope to get your business in future. If your ex agrees the valuation and we aren’t talking mega bucks that’s probably good enough. My ex didn’t even bother and just sent some online capacity searches and the court didn’t criticise that.
