Recommendation for lawyer- parental alienation

ContactNightmare · 15/08/2024 11:21

Posting here for traffic. I am seeking a recommendation for an individual lawyer who manages high conflict, parental alienation cases. Child is 13 and has alleged abuse, SS recommended no contact. Parental alienation being alleged. Desperately worried for child.

Not fussed as to location - expertise more important.

Happy to take recommendations by DM.

Many thanks for reading

No. No contact with NRP. I am RP.

I don’t believe UK family courts use the term parental alienation. At 13 the child will be able to see or not see whoever they want (assuming no SS dictating otherwise)

Very worried re parental alienation otherwise I would agree regards the age; child should have the choice. I just don’t want to be the frame for influencing the child’s decision

My ex does not accept this and is taking me to court, saying I have alienated his child. Child is traumatized (medically diagnosed by CAHMS). It is really hideous

Court will throw it out. We’ve had a lot to do with cafcass and family courts recently unfortunately and no judge is going to make a 13 year old do anything.

ContactNightmare · 15/08/2024 11:38

That would be a relief if so; child is very unwell. My life has been overtaken by all the care needed. I probably lack perspective but it has been a very difficult time.

I wouldn’t be so sure.

There was a dispatches programme on c4 a couple of years ago regarding the family courts and there were at least two cases reported on where teenage children were removed from the family home and residency was granted to the NRP due to alleged parental alienation, even though the children were old enough to have their wishes heard.

OP I don’t know of any solicitors who deal with this kind of thing but I would start by seeking out a good family solicitor in your area and take it from there.

Thanks this is my worry; all the places I have seen have been “are your children alienated from you? We can help.”

There does not seem to be too much out there in defending yourself from being called an alienator

Call Rights of Women for some advice. Plenty of women trying to protect DC get accused of PA. It is a term that is used in UK courts though I think at 13 you should be OK. Certainly there are plenty of gross male public figures and as you say aggressive law first actively encouraging it as a strategy to force contact.

Rights of women - feminist solicitors well versed in abuse cases. Charlotte Proudman most well known female lawyer against abusive men. But to be honest good family solicitors - just get on phone and start asking for their experience in PA accusations and abuse, and see where you get to.

I just wanted to follow up; my ex started out seeking a full blown psychological assessment of me and child with questions on parental alienation. Special hell indeed.
