My soon to be exhusband has agreed to give me 60% of house in sale. What do I do to cement that? Do I have to involve and get divorce lawyers? Or do we just tell the house solicitors to send 60% my way and the rest his way? Sorry I'm not well, just had spinal surgeries and in lots of pain so I haven't been able to research this. Buyers for house are pushing for a quick sale.

You will need to put a financial agreement into the divorce but if you’re dealing with the house selling right now then all you need to do is tell the conveyancing solicitors where to send the money. As far as I’m aware you can tell them exactly how much to send where (although they will add their bank transfer charges to their bill, so you’ll have an extra transfer charge).

Someone may come along and say something completely different! It’s not all that far off 20 years since I split with exH after all and I’m assuming you’re in the UK.
