Divorce and car insurance - AIBU

I’m divorcing after 30 years of marriage - his numerous affairs ended it - we have always shared a car - registered and insured in my name - we are not now living together, still waiting for him to produce his paperwork - to finalise the financial split - he wants to share the car by being insured on my policy - I would like to keep the car as part of the financial settlement. But I don’t want to add him to the policy his last accident was in august , another fault accident - and another one would wipe out my no claims bonus. His “girlfriend” has a car but he’s not been added to hers, car is due for renewal beginning of June and I really don’t want to add him. Does anybody know if I have to - the car is a marital asset

You do not have to include him on the insurance.

You should tell him though.

The car will obviously be part of the martial assets.

You don't have to add him to the insurance if you don't want to - however, you mentioned that you "have shared the car" but it's registered and insured in your name. If he had been using the car he should have been named in the insurance as a secondary driver already. I am the secondary driver on the cars we own and we have never been asked about no claims bonus for me, only for the main driver if this helps.
