Husband told mediator he feels anxious

Hi all.

Today, I received an email from the mediator asking me to arrange a MIAM session. I replied to inform her that I've paid to attend a hearing at my local family court regarding a delay to the final order until finances are settled and would like to wait until after the hearing.

She replied back saying I should book a MIAM now regardless because my husband is very anxious to know whether we can go ahead with mediation. Things were okay-ish between us until I asked him to fill in and share form E, he then expressed he'd rather go to court to sort out finances. He turned really nasty afterwards.

I'm 100% for giving mediation a try and arranging MIAM, however I'd just want to go ahead with it after we've spoken to a judge at the hearing which should be in a few weeks.

AIBU with this?

Whole point of mediation is to try to avoid court and hearing so seems odd to what until after
