Childcare arrangement when ex works weekends

Hi,
Does anyone currently have childcare arrangements in place where the ex works away Fri to Sun some (but not all) weekends?

How do you manage childcare split?

Thanks!

Should have said - this is when it is 50/50 childcare. So currently, on his 50% of the time, his parents look after the kids when he is away. So 50% me / 50% him/his parents.

Does anyone else do this?

I don’t have kids and am not in the UK, but 50/50 is the norm here and what you’re describing sounds accurate. He’s responsible for them his 50% of the time, which includes arranging childcare if he will be away. Otherwise the burden would fall on the other parent who would be at his beck and call, and that’s certainly not fair as sorting these things out is part of being a parent.

Some people put a “right of first refusal” clause into their separation agreement, meaning that if one parent needs childcare, they must see if the other parent is willing to do so before booking someone else. However, parents are not obligated to do childcare on the other parents day.
