Bankruptcy after consent order approved

Good morning. I have searched and just can't find an answer.

Does anyone know what I should do in this situation.

Our divorce was final on Friday. We have a consent order agreed whereby my ex husband has to pay £450 per week towards joint bills until our house is sold. Once sold, he receives his share of the equity, and I receive mine.

However, he is now saying that he is going to declare himself bankrupt. Can he do that? The house and debt is in joint names. Does anyone know how this will affect me? I've tried to speak to my solicitor and she is on holiday until next week, and I'm so worried that I am going to lose my home. I have two daughters living with me, one 17 and and one 19 still at uni.

Thank you.

You are probably better off posting on moneysavingexpert forum as they have people who are experts in bankruptcy and will know how it will effect you and your home.

When I signed my divorce paperwork it included a statement to the effect that I was able to meet by liabilities ie wasnt about to go bust.

You need to talk to another solicitor at the firm you are using asap
