Anyone with experience of police pensions?

It's a little way off as have to sell the house first but anyone had experience of police pensions during / after divorce? What would I be entitled to? Ta x

It's like any other defined benefit pension. You'd need to get an assessment of it's CETV (this will be required as part of the divorce process, pension administrators give these out all the time) - this is the cash value equivalent of the benefits the pension gives.

This goes into the marital pot as an asset and then you negotiate the split. This could mean the pension holder has to transfer a portion of their pension value into your pension (or vice versa if it's yours), or you might trade away your rights to the pension value in exchange for more of the house etc.

Either way, the pension has to be valued, and its value is added to the marital pot to be split.
