Legal separation - confused - how do I do this?

For religious reasons I'm thinking about getting legally separated rather than getting a divorce (at least in the first instance as I'm not sure what will happen long-term). This would be on my instigation (long story).

DH does not want to separate and we are still living together currently (although he seems to have moved into the spare bedroom permanently - because I snore apparently). We only have a few years left to pay on the mortgage and one DC 16 still at home.

Obviously one of us would need to move out or we'd need to sell the house, but does filling in a Form E to divide up all finances/assets make us legally separated or is there a another legal separation form to fill in? Hoping to keep costs down. Sorry, I am so confused!

Any other advice on this welcome!

I know someone who had a seperation agreement, it worked well for her you need a solicitor to do it
