Home Insurance on Divorce

Hello, looking for advice from anyone who might have been through the same.

My divorce court order states that… the applicant and respondent shall be jointly responsible for the cost of insuring the family home (for the avoidance of doubt they shall each be responsible for one half of the cost of insuring the family home);

would you consider this to be building insurance only or building and contents insurance?

thanks in advance

I would assume only buildings unless you are both living in the property. Landlords don't cover their tenants property, only the building. Similar scenario imo.

The order is written ambiguously but would have intended to mean the building. Someone who is not occupying the property will not be expected to contribute towards contents insurance for someone else's belongings. It would be prohibitively expensive to ask the court to clarify anyway, the legal fees would probably cost contents insurance for about 30 years for an average household!

Thanks for your comments, they have helped, and yes cheaper than paying legal fees to clarify!
