50/50 custody - How far can I move?

Obviously taking into account current schooling restraints, how far is reasonable to move to a new area?

Now ex wants 50/50 custody and assets will be split 50/50, I cannot to buy in our current town.

Would up to 30 min drive be reasonable do you think? Other parent will remain in current area.

I have a 30 min drive between me and ex and we have 50/50. That would be fine it's not far at all

I think you need to consider mainly if you can get DC to school and other activities and go from there, in terms of what is reasonable.

So a thirty minute drive suggests an hour each day or thereabouts to get to school if you need to drive them. I would find that difficult, but not impossible. It depends how much traffic etc.

As the DC get older, they might get more flexible themselves about where they stay depending on what they are doing. So they might end up staying more with other parent for convenience rather than an hour round trip.

No more than 30

for the children’s sake

Layinwait · 30/08/2023 07:29

But honestly- I think too much

Is 30 minutes with or without traffic? If it could turn into an hour with traffic for school or club drop offs, that could be a pain for all of you. Would you be prepared to do a lot of driving to take them to school / their other parents / clubs / friends?

LDA123 · 30/08/2023 08:27

Actually, it’s only 20 mins - probably an 8 mile radius - but I said 30 as worse case with traffic.

There is easy public transport between places for when they’re older also.
