Ex stopped paying maintenance with no warning but has been made redundant

Ex has stopped paying maintenance with no warning. When asked about it he said he's been paying despite not working since November and had the kids not told me he'd been made redundant (they didn't) and it's "caught up with him" and he's run out of money. He's not seen them much recently as he was getting new windows put in and said the house was too messy. Previous to that he was on holiday with his girlfriend so couldn't see them. I am trying to find out if redundancy pay goes on P60. We have a minute of agreement which says I can request his most recent P60 but not sure if there is any point. Any words of advice from anyone dealt with similar please? Am in Scotland. Not sure if I should pay money for solicitor and find out or if I'd be better conserving funds as much as possible.

He will only have a p60 if he was employed by the company up until the end of the tax year ie April 2023 for the tax year 2022-2023. If he was made redundant in November of 2022, the company will not have processed a p60 for him, as he was not employed by them after this point.

Not worth paying for a Solicitor to request this as he won't have one, unless of course he got a new job after he was made redundant, but it will only show the figures from his new employment.

Go to mygov.scot and make a claim for child maintenance.

Don’t know how it works in Scotland but in England if he’s not working he won’t have to pay maintenance other than £7 a week I think if claiming benefits

Redundancy payments don’t count for CMS purposes in England, don’t know about Scotland.

Thanks. It's so unfair. He's doing up his house, not seeing his kids and going on holidays with his girlfriend meanwhile I'm struggling for time and money to provide for the kids.

If he can afford to go on holiday and do up his house, then he can afford to pay his maintenance. But in England redundancy pay doesn't go towards CM. It would be a waste of money to request his P60 at this stage. It is a shame he hasn't seen much of the kids and I hope that changes for their sake and you can keep it all amicable.
