Ex went part time to pay less child support

Ex and I are planning to start mediation shortly but recently he went to work part time and wants to pay less child support as he is saying now earns less. The reason for going part time is a lifestyle choice. Will the court take in consideration other assets? He owns a 5 bedroom house and has a property abroad so he’s not short of cash to pay the child support.

CMS is worked out on income.
Normally PAYE income is the easiest one to get CMS from as other forms of income (Self employed / rental etc) are harder as they are calculated via self assessment
A house does not generate income
Were you married? If so, surely the fact he has a five bedroomed house and another property are in the marital pot for division as part of the divorce.

They won’t look at assets unless he’s in a very high net worth situation - millions and millions etc. They are martial assets in a divorce though.

There won’t be much you can do re the maintenance amount; as PP has said, it’s worked out on income.
