He’s done this over the phone today apparently- only realised when I was alerted through my banking app that all direct debits has been cancelled and I phoned up to check.
There was only £40 in there, it had direct debits for mortgage, life insurances and he paid the maintenance into it.
Im furious with the bank for this. I’m dashing around trying to get direct debits set up in my sole account.
Just writing for a rant really.

He's been wise to remove himself from an account shared with you. Not sure why they closed it rather than remove his name though.

Sure it’s not just that he removed his name?

This happened to me, banks really need to change their protocols.

In my case I was a victim of DA and didn't have my own bank account- only the joint.
Exh had his own bank accounts where his salary was paid into. The joint was only used by me, where my pittance of a salary was paid into (I suppose so he could have control over it).

He went to the bank, withdrew remaining money (which he knew full well was my wages I was depending on for the month) and closed the account. Bank phoned and spoke to me while he was in the room, despite me stating I was vulnerable and didn't want to speak in front of him.

In the end I complained I had to speak to a vulnerability officer at the bank, and they put a hold on the account rather than close it, until I had time to sort things. Not sure if this is a possibility in your case?
