Can my ex claim my pension?

Hi everyone, I am looking for help and advice.

Me and my ex broke up after years of being controlled and smothered. Six month after we broke up I finally got my degree job with the civil service, which I know I get a good pension for.

We still have not had a divorce as I could not find the divorce papers and had to reapply again to Vegas.

We have nearly been split for 2 years and now I have the papers, I am looking for a divorce, however, I have heard that she can claim on my pensions, is this true?

We were only married 2 years, and I did not get the job until after we broke up, so my job is still new 15 months in. Surely she cannot be entitled to it?

She is so toxic, she kept my daughter away from me for 2 years, I just won a shared care order, I know she will do anything to make me hurt.

until there is a final consent order then potentially all assets inc pd soon are up for grabs

whether she would be successful, will depend on many factors

in either case you need a solicitor to finalise a consent order

legally yes, but as you started the job after you split up and it is only a small pot presumably then there wouldn't be much point in it. This is something that you need to discuss with your solicitor, when you agree on asset splitting. She shouldn't be entitled to any share of a pot built up after divorce.

it was done to protect women who had raised a family and had no pension of their own while the husband had carried on working and built up a good pension. If they then split after 20 years of marriage or whatever, then the wife ended up with nothing.
