Is a homeowner notified when a Matrimonial Charge is put on the home?

I have just paid to have a matrimonial charge on the family home. I moved out and my ex still lives there, it was originally his home before I moved in. We have a 5 year old son together.

My solicitor advised me that the first thing I need to do is put a charge on the home so he can't sell or remortgage it without my knowledge. She has told me that he will not find out about the charge unless he goes to remortgage.
I really don't want him to find out until the divorce is started etc and that will be in April. Is this correct that the Land Registry will not notify him? I know he will go nuts if he finds out.

Sorry OP bit confused on this one?

Doesn't he know you are divorcing him since you have moved out? I take it your split isn't / won't be amicable? How much are you "wanting" equity wise from the house and how long were you married?

I’d be really surprised if he wasn’t notified immediately. After all what is there to stop anyone putting a charge on someone else’s house without them finding out?

If he has signed up to the alert service via the land registry then he will find out as soon as the charge appears.

What do you mean you paid? It is free to do this. You just post them a form
