What to click in online divorce

Do you know if I need to click the 'get a financial order' button?
Also, my solicitor said there's an option to serve him the papers myself, rather than by email. I didn't give an email or home address from him and it says I need to pay extra. Is this it?

Unless it’s changed since last year you need to tick this for ANY financial agreement you want court to make or seal including a consent order.
I agree it isn’t clear…the one and only ambiguous question on the whole thing if you ask me.
I did the whole petition on line…so papers served on line. Not sure why you wouldn’t do this as much easier and your ex is then kept in loop and can sign everything on line. Paper copies will slow it down and can get lost by divorce courts. Unless there’s a reason you can’t put his email address in? Ask him for it if you don’t know it as it will help him too.

You can always ring court to clarify about email if adding later…maybe a big queue on line but I found them helpful.

My solicitor told me to click the "get a financial order" button as it means you can get a financial agreement in place with the court at some point in the future. If you don't need it, that's fine.

You will need an email address from him if you don't want to pay extra for the court to discover where he's living. If he's expecting you to initiate the divorce, asking for contact details will come as no surprise to him.

If he's being a pain over it, make sure you tick the box that asks the court to insist he pays the court fees.
