If a married couple are getting a divorce but have to remain in the same house whilst doing mediation

  1. Can they claim UC as two single people
  2. Husband doesnt work but is also not a stay at home parent. Wife Pays for everything within the home and for children and is also the main carer of the kids. Husband argues that until the divorce is through they are entitled to all money the wife has/earns. Wife currently giving him money for himself but desperately wants to stop this as, apart from the massive resentment, cant afford it.

Does anyone know the answer to this complicated situation? Thanks.

It is possible to claim UC as a single
person whilst still living in the same house.
Mir has to be clear that each person is living an entirely separate life. Not sharing a bed, not cooking for each other or spending leisure time together etc. having started divorce proceedings will help massively to prove that they are separate.

You can claim UC within the rules PP has listed. Get your claim in asap to get it moving. You don’t have to tell him either. No paperwork will come to the home address. It’s all online
