Which home can the child spend more nights in after a divorce?

Hello everyone,
Hope you are well :)!

My friend and her husband will be getting a divorce.
I just wanted to know what their rights were in terms of child custody and how many nights the child can stay with each parent? Does it need to be 50/50 split? Does the mother have the legal right to have the child for more nights?

They are both full time working parents and the mother (my friend) has always been the one to do all the cooking, cleaning, food shopping, school drop offs and pick ups.

Any help much appreciated! X

Each parent has equal rights and responsibilities until / unless a court decides custody/contact.

That’s for them to come to agreement on what works best for their children. Luckily it’s not a once size fits all solution.

This, I have divorced friends and it ranges from one parent having the children 100% of the time to a rigid 50/50 split

Totally depends on the circumstances

Both parents have equal rights and responsibility for the same things when it comes to the children.

Unless a court decides, it can go either way.

Both parents are looked at equally.

Mum has no more rights they dad
A child gas rights to the parents
Will depend in their situation and what’s in the child’s best interests- and of course if parents can tension amicable and flexible so much the better
