I'm in the process of separating with my DH. It's all fairly amicable. Have put the decree nisi application in.

I'm waiting for my contracts to be made permanent at work and him to buy me out (with his mothers money) but the process feels so long. It's likely we'll have to stay in the family home for several months waiting until I can buy my own place.

We have young kids too so I can't just stay at friends/ family without them.

I'm feeling very stuck here but I can't see any other solution.

Just tell me it goes quickly!

Could you possibly afford to rent for 3 months / are there properties around? It’s always worth asking friends of friends via Facebook for good rates.

Check w a solicitor re speeding it up and also any dos and don’ts.

Otherwise keep yourself busy, book in treats, Chuck a bit of money at removing friction if you can eg cleaner.

Good luck with your new chapter

When we were in the same position last year we spent one night a week each away from the family home - is this possible? Like just at a friend's house or a relative? Or even an air b & b/hotel if you can afford it?
