At what point can you even look at properties?

We're still living together but also going to be divorcing.

At what point are finances agreed to free someone up to buy elsewhere? Does it have to all happen AFTER the divorce, or can it be finances are sorted first and the paperwork/child custody etc, happens after?

I took over the mortgage and had the property transferred to my name before we divorced. Doing that doesn’t change ex had a claim on it but freed him up to get a new mortgage etc We waited 2 years to divorce under no fault rules.

What a brilliant way to do it!

Unfortunately we have to divide assets to be able to afford to find somewhere to live, and we can't agree over who has the house or custody of children, so it's long to be long and drawn out.
