Divorced parents and childcare

If one parent (ExH) has the children every second Fri to Sun, should this be from after school on a Fri or from when he finishes work?
How do others do it?

I do it from school pickup on Friday through to drop-off on Monday - it means he is responsible for childcare/costs on these days.

It is written in to our legal agreement.

Mine will only collect after work and drops off Sunday PM. I'd prefer an after school collection.

Our hand over day was a Friday. The receiving parent was responsible from midday, so if my dd was off school that day and she was coming to me I’d pick her up at noon. (or my new dp would once things were established after a couple of years) If it was a school day I’d pick her up from the childminder by 5pm. If she was off ill, she would stay with the parent she’d been with all week until the other parent could collect her. (She was never too ill to move homes). We each paid a full week’s dinner money and childminding fees - we had her a week on and a week off. I got all the family allowance as I had a longer drive to get her to school. We so both had a set of school uniform except for shoes and coat, so she didn’t need to bring all her spare uniform when she swapped over.

I’m in the same boat, would also prefer an after school collection as I have to leave work early myself on a Fri (as well as every other day) as I have no available childcare. I can then only hand them over to him once he’s finished work which I think is a bit unfair.

This sounds very sensible having it written into the agreement. We hadn’t and I wish we had!
