Timing of Telling Kids (12 & 8)

Ex-p & I are separating after a long relationship. DS is 12 & due to start high school next week. DD is 8 and at primary.

We have lived under the same roof for nearly 2 years to sort out the finances & child contact - huge backstory there.

I have had an offer accepted on a flat with a provisional entry date of mid-September.

I want to tell DC now, and let them have the time between now & school starting to come to terms with it.

Ex-p wants to delay until after DC starts school.

What would you think for the best?

Just tell them. They are probably on some level expecting it anyway.

Thanks, that's what I think too. DS has already been asking why we sleep in separate rooms & has overheard arguments.

Home life has been extremely dysfunctional & he has made it very difficult for me to leave with DC, but I have eventually managed it.
