I've been separated from ex-h for a couple of years, though we are only sorting the divorce now. Amicable enough. Kids are 6 (nearly 7) and 10.
We are both seeing other people. My ex and his partner are talking about marriage. She has no kids. I'd like to prepare the kids by getting them used to the idea of him remarrying (I may too, in due course), by watching some films (ideally that are on Netflix, Amazon prime or Disney) that present life after divorce and a step parent coming in, as a positive thing. I like his new partner well enough and am happy for him/them. She is nice to the kids. I'd say she's very fond of them.
We are of course talking with the kids, but my youngest has expressed not wanting her parents to ever remarry, so I'd like to get her used to the idea that it's ok, more than ok.
