Has this ever happened to anyone? I did my divorce via the governments online site. They sent me emails and in October I was issued my Decree absolute. In January I received a letter out the blue, which stated that the judge signed off on my absolute to early and my divorce is now void and I am still married.

I am so stressed that this has happened. Should I complain? Should I just take it on the chin? I’m not even sure what my next steps are to get the ball rolling again. I just can’t believe I've spent the past few months thinking I was divorced.

I just don’t understand how this happened.

That must be very upsetting.
Did they say if you can apply for the Absolute again?

@Firelight88, thats just awful!! Id definitely get on to the court to find out what went wrong.

Once Id heard their reason, Id seriously consider filing a complaint.

What would have happened if you were waiting for the Absolute and got re-married?? Would/could you have been done for bigamy, even though the courts made the mess!!

Hope you can get things sorted without too much hassle

What date did you receive the decree nisi? The decree absolute can only be granted 6 weeks and one day after that date.

There was a whole slew of incorrectly granted divorces uncovered a couple of years back. Some of the people had remarried and had kids. Absolute carnage. That's what you get when you underfunded the courts.

It's a disgrace.
