I've been seperated since early 2019, initially my ex wanted "space" and left for his parents house. I then proceeded to look for marriage councillors etc to try and salvage our marriage when about a week or so later he tells me that he no longer wants us to be together and is leaving me. We have a now 4 year old together and we have so far been amicable in terms of child support and splitting custody between us and he agreed that he would be the one to pay for the divorce as he is the one who left, it would just take some time as he was not financially stable which I had, and still have, no problem with.
However 3 months after he left, he got into a relationship with someone who has a really big problem with us still being married (he told me this word for word in the summer just gone) and he is now asking me to cover for half of the divorce. I point blank refused as I am not the one who wanted this and I am certain he is only rushing this because his gf does not like this situation.
From a legal standpoint, do I need to pay for half?
