H about to be made redundant

H and I are separating. He's been told he is likely to lose his job in October. He's 54, and isn't looking for anything.

I was planning to buy him out if our house but he will need to take out a small mortgage.

I am terrified about what him being out of work will mean for the settlement. I can't afford to give him more and don't want to, having brought every single asset into the marriage.

Sorry to hear about this, OP. Any more details you're able to share?

I'm facing redundancy myself at the moment; not a good place to be if you need a mortgage. However, the courts are very backed up at the moment (I have heard) so he might not want to sit around unemployed for an indefinite long time.

Sympathies on being the provider and the bringer of assets and ending up paying even more; it's shit, isn't it.
