Hi

I live in Scotland have been married for 23 years.

We have both agreed to split and he wanted to do it through a lawyer. He is a complete control freak so I went to a lawyer last week who advised me to get the name of my husband's lawyer to start proceedings.

When I asked him he was raging and said no you tell me your lawyer and mine will write to him. I am still waiting - I think he is raging that he has lost control of the situation as I have started the ball rolling.

He is now thumping about looking raging and hasn't provided me with the details yet even though he has been on leave this week. He is making the atmosphere awful and my lawyer has advised that I have not to move out.

My question is what do I do if he won't supply a lawyer's name?

My lawyer advised me to give his details to my husband but I know he will drag things out as that puts him back in control and frankly I have had enough.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Your lawyer can write directly to your husband. Hopefully that will spur him into action and to seek appropriate advice. I suspect he's calling your bluff and probably hasn't consulted anyone yet.

Prepare yourself for a long haul, if this is how it starts it is likely he will procrastinate over every step.
