My DS is 11Y and openly dislikes going to see XH. How old were your DC when you stopped formally arranging custody visits and let DC decide when they see the non custodial parent? 15Y? 17?

Can you afford for DS to see a children's therapist with experience in this area. It's really important to get him a safe, confidential space to work through why he doesn't want to see one parent. The therapist can also help support your DS's decision if he does choose to stop contact with non resident parent.

My DD has been seeing a therapist for a few months to work through not wanting to see her Dad. It's helping their relationship, and the therapist has helped her Dad to understand how his behaviour is causing her problems and refusing to stay at his

The courts will listen to children from the age of 12 (although this is flexible dependent on their maturity). My eldest wanted to stop seeing his dad just before his 12th birthday. I encouraged him for a bit longer. But at that point he was taller than me. And had been treated badly by his dad. So he went NC of his own choice. School supported him with counselling and pastrol support. So it could be seen as not my influence.

Thanks Jaggy and Unicorn. DS's biological dad cares little about DS's opinion and as we parallel parent, rather than co-parent, I am not going to spend any more monies on this matter. I already pay for all of DS's upkeep and school fees which kill me.
