Does a court order child arrangement affect CM payments?

Long story but son was seeing his dad on a fortnightly basis (their relationship has been a strained one for many years!) contact drifted to about once a month and now son is not interested in seeing him (rarely replied to texts) he felt controlled by his dad, treated very differently to being at home (dad is definitely a narcissist!). Last overnight stay was Autumn last year. There is a child arrangement from 2016 in place. I haven’t heard from ex since last year. My question is please if anyone can help: I’ve contacted CMS today by email to let them know that there is a change in the number of nights (now 0). Will the court order/child arrangement affect this? Will they just contact the dad for him to confirm this? Son is 14 and not interested in seeing him. Thank

Well maybe you should spend more time and effort on helping your son rebuild his relationship with his Dad than jumping to CMS and asking for more money now?

Well that’s helpful! What about the Dad tried to build the relationship. It’s not a Mums job to facilitate a relationship, so yes I’d contact CMS

The Court order lasts until your son is 18.

As your son is 14 it is unlikely a judge would want to vary the order on your say so.

I think if the dad agrees it the maintenance will change. If he disagrees then you will have to go back to court for a new order.

Definitely not the mums job to improve contact! The dad needs to improve the relationship.
