Will I be too poor to meet someone new?

DH and I are splitting. I will have 6/7 custody of the children. Even with CM payments it’s going to be really tough financially. One day I would love to meet someone new but how can you date with no disposable income?

Have you met someone after divorce, even if you were stony broke?

Have you checked what tax credits etc you'd be entitled to?

I feel like this too OP. I have mine full time. 4 kids, grandparents that need a lot of support, no time or money to do anything. Yet he swans off to his new life, new house etc leaving me with a broken one.

Unfortunately my ex had not paid any child support for 2 years now. I get by. Just. With the help of family for things like school uniform.

I make a choice each week with the little Money I have spare to spend it on the kids. Sometimes I would like to do something for myself. I try to remember that the children won't always want this time with me. And I hope that in a few years I can maybe consider dating.

I'm sure you can make it work. I meet friends for coffee. But my situation has held me back from dating because I want to pay my way. And not have to say I can't afford XYZ. That's not much fun.

You just don’t let your misplaced pride get in the way and allow your date to pay for you. If they’re truly interested in you and value you as a person, they won’t mind.

I don’t think I would be entitled to tax credits.

I think any little money I might have, I would like to save for a holiday. Their Dad’s family is wealthy so will be all going away on lavish trips. I can’t compete with that
