Hi, does anyone know if the decree nisi hearing is just a formality? Am so anxious it will be rejected for some reason. Will I get an email tomorrow afterwards or do I have to do something? Thank you in advance.

Yes I got mine through the post, I had a takeaway to cheer me up, no booze.

JustOneLastThing · 29/04/2020 22:13

@Holothane Was your original application via post or online, mine was done online so thought the nisi would be too?

Yes it is just a formality.

Mine's on Tuesday.

It's just a formality. Nothing to worry about honestly. I divorced online and got the Nisi notification through online too. All pretty efficient unlike everything else to do with divorce!

@Momentumneeded thank you, I am like a cat on a hot tin roof today, almost shaking. Did the nisi cone through on the same day as the hearing do you remember?

Decree nisi has been granted, phew. Roll on the 12th June for the absolute.

Don’t forget you have to apply for the absolute no earlier than 6 weeks & 1 day after nisi. They are not automatic but turnaround is usually really quick.

@JustOneLastThing that's great news. It's a good feeling. I'm so envious of you being in a position to proceed to absolute - I'm stuck in a quagmire with an obstructive ex who refuses to provide financial disclosure. 😞

You get an email saying you can apply for the absolute. I did on Friday morning! Should be a couple of days wait apparently.

trinity0097 · 11/05/2020 18:24

I got my absolute this morning at 10.48am, so it really took them under 2 hours to do in terms of working days!

My consent order was sealed in April, applied for absolute end of April, and still don't have absolute, as it had been over 12 months from getting the nisi (due to mediation and ex moving abroad), sent accompanying letter to explain reason for delay, this has now been almost 4 weeks and still not received it.....called the court to be told it was with the judge and could take 1 or 2 weeks.........should I be worried ??? Everyone seems to get their absolute pretty quickly !!!
