Can anyone tell me what costs are incurred when going to court to split assets after divorce?

Not sure anyone will be able to answer this but I'm trying to establish some information before my ex takes me to court.
Would I be made to pay to attend court for hearings or is the cost purely associated with representation? If it's a case of only incurring costs due to employing a solicitor or barrister then I'll represent myself.
I simply can't afford legal representation and I'm trying to decide whether to buckle and give him the ridiculous amount he wants or allow a court to decide.
TIA

How did it get to this do you have a lawyer have you tried mediation.
Do not agree to anything till you have sound advice

Court is only £550 (I think) all the money goes to solicitors and barristers.
You can just get a barrister for the hearings if you get a direct access one.

I sympathise with your situation. The party who applies to the court pays the court cost. If you self represent you will not have to pay anything (unless you are very very unreasonable, and you get some of the other side's costs awarded against you).
Good luck.

It should be done prior to divorce ideally.
