Divorce, exH saying he can't afford financial settlement

On the cusp of divorcing. Ex is living in family home and I'm renting. There has been some correspondance regarding financial settlement but ex is claiming he can't afford to buy my share of the house and the financial division of assets. He refuses to move (and to be honest, would have a hard time selling since property is a right state - japanese knotweed, ancient property in major disrepair). Has silly loans for cars and sofas etc which he took out pre and post split. Was financially abusive. What the hell happens if he just can't pay?! I've agreed to a stupidly low settlement but just want out and a line to be drawn. I can't afford a solicitor, am on a low wage and constantly trying to stay afloat. Help please!!!

I think you'll be best off getting advice from a solicitor for this one.

If the house is in such a state, is there even much equity in it?
Makes a massive difference if the equity is £5k (most of which would be eaten up in solicitor costs) or £100k.

What is the situation on pensions?

Where are you living now/going forwards?

How long were you married? Are there kids?

No forms yet, it's all a bit pie in the sky at the moment, with him not responding properly about anything, as I think his new gf doesn't like him communicating with me which really doesn't help! Together 12 years, married 8, 3 DC. Not much equity in the house, maybe 20k at a rough estimation. Pension supposed to be paid as a lump sum (his suggestion). Will a solicitor work like that? As in take fee at the end after finances settled. I'm so clueless about all of this. How do people navigate it?!
