I'm just exhausted.. familiar I know. My stbxh left and after moving only half an hour away then decided to 'find himself' living abroad🙄.... lasted a year. On his return moved to live 400 miles away. Oldest dc now about to go to uni and not fussed but youngest dc has really pinned for him. He is averaging about 4 visits a year....up until now he hasn't had. Regular work or transport. But now both. I'm wondering... and I suspect I can't. But is there anyway to get him more involved for dc and me a break. Any conversations that work for you??

I am not in your situation I am married but I do most of the childcare and usually my husband helps in the weekends and I am exhausted.

I don't really think I can offer advice but your ex sounds completely unreliable.

I would not expect him to be involved as surely he would have made noises at least about his ability now to help out if he is now in a position to help.

Sadly your ex sound like a useless self absorbed waste of space, trying to get him to act like a reasonable human being will be a thankless task. Its very sad your youngest is upset but sooner or later most DC realise the truth about a parent and decide for themselves that he made no effort.

I agree with Sue. But probable still worth opening the dialogue if you have a reasonable working relationship.
