So, other than split of equity.....how does one/two deal with content?

Long story short (and mostly because I just lost my previous post) ex OH and I are still living together post split back in May. It is unbearable for both of us and DC's. I can't afford to buy him out but he can buy me out. I could hopefully find something else somewhere. So, other than my share of the equity.... how do we deal with thing like......we both recently paid to have a brand new kitchen fitted with all new appliances and also most of the furniture would have to stay in existing property and I replace ( Ie DC's beds, desks, other beds and so on) .... How is this normally dealt with? Any thoughts/experiences shared welcome. x

You agree to split it or he pays you an agreed price to keep it.

I proposed an additional £10K be added to my settlement to reflect everything that was staying in the house with him. It sounds like a lot of money, but actually once you start adding up white goods and sofas etc... I literally left everything in the house - we didn’t want to get into a situation of splitting ever my set of coasters 50/50 or arguing over the bathroom mirror which was just the right size for that wall.

Thanks both.

Elisandra, yes I guess it will have to be a matter of walking room to room to see what I leave behind and need to replace. We just spend a small fortune on refurbing too.........
